About Alyce Baker

The Legacy of Alyce Baker

Alyce Baker was a foundational figure in the Inland Northwest’s parliamentary community and a highly respected master teacher of parliamentary procedure. During her distinguished career, she held the rare and prestigious distinction of being the only Certified Professional Parliamentarian (CPP) in the Spokane, Washington area.

Known for her unparalleled expertise in the rules of order, governance, and organizational logic, Baker dedicated her life to educating others on how to conduct fair, efficient, and democratic meetings. She believed that mastering parliamentary procedure was not just about enforcing strict rules, but about ensuring that every voice in an assembly had the opportunity to be heard fairly.

Her impact as an educator and leader was so profound that upon her passing in the late 1990s, the local parliamentary community chose to permanently honor her legacy. Today, the American Institute of Parliamentarians (AIP) Spokane chapter proudly bears her name as the Alyce Baker Chapter #2, ensuring that her commitment to ethical debate and structured governance continues to inspire new generations of parliamentarians.
